I. ONLINE INTERNSHIP
To ensure efficient virtual internship you need to have, at least, basic computer skills and some experience with the Internet and e-mail. Before starting the internship you will undergo a preliminary test to check up your abilities to work in the field.
If the test shows you need some helpful knowledge you have a possibility to be enrolled into MIM online courses of the Internet Business.
MIM instructor can help you to choose appropriate online courses. You can follow MIM online courses before starting your online internship or simultaneously with it.
You will need an Internet access and preferably a recent web browser (Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer are recommended). You will also need an email account. If you do not have your own mail account, we recommend Hotmail, a free Web-based email service.
To register for online internship, please, fill out and submit the Application Form, and wait for an acceptance letter.
First, you need to send MIM your Resume. In the United States, this is a necessary step for obtaining a job, internship, and even an initial interview. Typically, a resume will consist of one page, including brief information about you, your internship objectives, educational background, work experience and relevant skills (languages, computer skills, etc.)
You can discuss with your MIM instructor ways to make your resume attractive and acceptable to your prospective internship providers.
The resume will be sent to the American companies providing internship once a good match to your personal preferences, education, skills, and abilities is found.
You will either get some online appointments to discuss your future duties and tasks with internship supervisors of the companies looking for interns like you, or will communicate with them via email.
Upon mutual approval by both sides - an intern and a company - the internship can start.
The companies offering virtual internship give students meaningful, real business assignment challenging their creativity and competence. Students receive and fulfill the assignments and provide results to a company via the Internet.
Students have a possibility, if they need, to contact MIM instructor for getting information and tips helpful for internship.
The company is monitoring studentís activities and provides at the end of the internship an evaluation with grades and a reference letter confirming internship completion.
The online internship, as any internship, is based on a teaching-by-doing principle. Internship provider company will teach you investing its staff time, experience and energy in your development. In return, the company would want your contribution in such spheres as market research, reporting, web site development, etc. during your internship.
Depending on the company's needs and preferences, and on your agreement, a typical length of your internship will be from 2 to 4 months. Of course, exceptions are possible by mutual agreements.
At the end of the online internship you will get a Reference Letter from the company, which provided the internship. MIM will provide you also an Internship Completion Form that would contain your grades and confirm your internship completion.
After the completion, you can put the virtual internship on your resume as work experience - this will be very helpful for your future job search, especially if you are planning to continue your career in an Internet-based business.
Upon successful completion of an virtual internship, if your contribution to company is evaluated by internship supervisor as a valuable one, you can be remunerated by company through MIM.
It's free for you, and your employer may even consider arranging some form of payment.
II. ONLINE COURSES
If your MIM preliminary test shows that you need to get some extra knowledge before engaging in an online internship, we would advise you to follow some MIM online courses. You can discuss with your MIM instructor what kind of MIM online courses you need before starting the online internship or simultaneously with it.
You really donít need to be connected for a long time. After uploading web pages you need, you can store them and continue to work with them even when you logged off. The courses and internship will require significant online research, so be prepared to spend some time on the Internet studying for your classes. But in most cases, you can connect to the Internet when it is convenient to you.
To register for online courses:
You may pay through a bank transaction to MIM account, or by mailing your check or money order payable to MIM.
Some of the classes are given real time, which is why you would need a chat software. You would also need it to participate in discussion groups and work on projects with other students and possibly with your internship providers. But most classes will consist of written instructions and texts, which would be sent to you by email for studying. You will then discuss the materials with other students in chat rooms, and submit homework, including a group project, where applicable. So, for the most part of time you can study at your own pace, anytime, and anywhere.
During the first class of each course, MIM instructor will discuss with you your background, personal preferences for studying, your weak and strong points and future career plans. The instructor will guide you through your studies, and will in some cases help you develop a tailor-made program to suite your needs and fit your skills.
Student and instructor will interact via e-mail and meet in real time, when appropriate, in special chat rooms.
At the end of the course, you MIM instructor with discuss with you the results of your final paper, as well as your personal evaluation and your comments about the course.
Most of MIM courses consist of 8-12 lessons. It takes, on average, about a week to finish one lesson. So, a typical course would take about 2-3 months to complete.
However, you can follow a course at your own pace. You wonít be dropped from classes as long as you continue to fulfill your home tasks. In some cases, if you prefer to extend the course, it could be done.
Upon successful completion of each course youíll receive a Completion Certificate.
The Certificate is a relevant indicator for your future employers confirming the level of your knowledge and skills in the Internet Business field.
Fees for our online courses vary from $100 to $300 per course depending on a course volume and with discount for students from developing countries. You also get a 20% discount on a second course.
